A symbol of Rohingya statelessness and the
community’s strength to keep making a mark

Kosu-fatar pani : Water on Taro leaf
A Rohingya proverb about water sitting on a Taro leaf,
it floats above the leaf and rolls off when the wind blows,
leaving no trace.

Rohingya communities involved in the Creative Advocacy Partnership
used this to describe the experience of being made stateless.

“In Arakan our existence is being erased, and no matter where we live we cannot make a mark, we are not allowed to get documents or build a life.
It feels like we are floating above the land, even gravity is against us.
But for Rohingya people, existing is resisting, we need to keep showing up
to live our lives and tell our stories”. – Rohingya leads in CAP.
